Gay rights & gay life in India?

I want to travel to India for a long time, but(!) I need some information about the gay rights & culture in India. Is that legal? Is that possilble for 2 men to live together?
Im not interested in gay marriage, only in the possibility of having a happy life as a gay couple.
Please only serious answer. Thank you a lot.

gaynudist 		India operates under a Penal Code that has specific code (377) for punishing men who commit `carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal`. So under law, a man can go to jail for 10 years if he`s caught - or, how law generally plays out, it`s used to enforce anti-gay sentiment in India;
So there is a danger for LGBT people in India, as they have very little protection from the law. There have been many calls to repeal law (most notably by Vikram Seth, an Indian poet/novelist, who is also bisexual), as it is an 140-year-old law. but(!) it`s not wiped out entirely, so there`s no guarantee of safety.
I think any kind of gay community there must be underground & kept somewhat secret, although there`s gay Indian movement on the go that`s tackling 377, as well as other forms of homophobia;

So. safety`s not a guarantee, & there`s legal support in place that poses a danger to gay men especially, but(!) there`s some challenge to it

gopbol 		Hmm, that`s hard to say, I just hope you get to India.
The men in India are very comfortable let`s say, affectionately with each other; Not at all saying it means they are gay, but(!) I have seen it. It`s more of brotherly thing.

There are gays in India, so go & have great time!
