How accepted is being gay in America & black, too?

In our ever changing world; How acceptable is being a black gay male today? Will my world embrace me as I come to terms & out of the closet with my sexuality? If not what would be some negativity I may encounter? I know that with a shortage of good black men in our world for opposite sex, I will leave my fellow black sisters very angry; Another 1 bites the dust for them. Or, may be I am over thinking my position. What do you think? Plz respond with positive & wise feedback.

jimmygay 		I think it`s still little difficult for black guys to be `openly` gay. I believe it becomes easier every day as general attiudes are becoming more liberal. You should just choose your friends wisely & I think you can have a happy live

gaykerk 		Well different parts of the world have people that are still racist today. & there are tons of folks everywhere that don`t approve of `gay lifestyle` but(!) if you hang out with the right crowd: nice, understanding people whom love you, then neither should be a problem. As long as you don`t join any really religious churches that call gay a sin, then you should be fine

jimmygay 		Double-whammy on that 1 for stereotypes to overcome; I can`t speak for living in a predominantly black community as I do not. I do know there are good & bad people in every community & everything in between. All I can say is you`re ahead of the game if you have a loving family that will embrace you & support you as you come out. I also know that if you venture out into gay world you will find gay friends that may or may not be black that can act as your support as you travel through your life. It`s true, it happens, it just takes time & courage to walk out the door & begin the journey
