Is it considered gay to give my best friend a promise ring?

My best friend & I are really close. & she is about to graduate next year; but(!) I wanted to buy both of us a promise ring to promise to be best friends forever. My grandma told me that if you get the ring & she shows people. People may call you a lesiban. but(!) i`m not gay. I`m straight. So is it ok to give my best friend ring that has both of our names engraved & inside it says sisters forever with diamonds?

mensexonly 		You already bought ring, It`s not worth it to drop idea now; It`s sweet, & since she`s older, I think she`ll think so too. Basically, if she`s feeling uncomfortable with it, she won`t wear it out in public. may be you could string them on necklaces & you could both wear them; That`s a less formal way to show that youre close & have her keep you close to her heart

gaynudist 		I think your grandmother is projecting her own slightly-homophobic beliefs.

No 1 will interpret a promise ring between 2 female friends as a lesbian relationship; (If it were guys, the situation may be different. )

jimmygay 		no as long as you don`t call it a promise ring because that is what you call a ring that a boy gives a girl when he wants to marry her in future. I actually think this is a cute idea but(!) you should call bff rings or something less apheliated with marriage/love
