How can I tell if this is gay date or a gay friendship?

I never was big on dating, so I stopped for a few years. Now, I`m looking for romance & friendship. romance mostly because I`m lonely & want someone to care for. I have a new friend I met online, & we`re going to be talking soon & meeting up; How can I tell if I am on a date or just person hanging out with another person? It`s difficult because I never really hung out with gay people before, & when I do I usually end up sleeping with them because I`m lonely & confused about their intentions. How do I know if I`m making a gay friend or in a dating situation? I don`t understand how to make gay friends unless they are a couple, then I know that neither of them want me; But, if it is just a gay guy, then what`s to stop the 2 of us from having sex or dating? Can you explain this to me? I mean, why have a gay friend if you can have a boyfriend? How will I know what this guy I`m hanging out with wants? He`s cute, I`d date him or have sex with him in heartbeat. What`s your take on this? Do you have good looking gay friends? Why didn`t you date them instead of being their friend? I`m confused by this

gaycase 		I say just ask him or talk to him about it. If you men online, chances are you'd be comfortable in that situation, and chances are he was looking for either a dating relationship or sex. Just be open and ask...if all he wants is a quickie he isn't the type you want to be in a relationship with anyway.

I mean, obviously if you end up in bed together, you`ve both tacitly decided it was date.

But rather than end up with confused feelings, I think it is far, far better to actually *talk* with the other guy, share what you are thinking & wanting, & find out what he is thinking & wanting;

And I have many gay friends who are not boyfriends -- mainly because I just don`t have bf right now, lol. There are plenty of gay guys who I like & even find attractive, but(!) I either don`t want to sleep with them, or, they are already taken & not `available` for me to date. So, they are friends & not boyfriends.

You *can* have lots of boyfriends, but(!) that could get confusing after a while. =P

Anyway, just as you would with a girl, you must learn to actually *talk* about your relationship with other guy, & make sure you both are on same page & want same thing.

Otherwise, there is danger that you just randomly fall into bed together, & 1 guy thinks, `Oh, that was hot & fun`, but(!) the other guy is thinking, `OMG, he is my husband!`. It`s really much healthier & less confusing to talk about what you want with each other -- friendship or dating, mutual support or sex, fun or a long-term relationship
