Do you think it`s disrespectful when a gay guy hits on a male friend that he knows is straight?

Here`s the thing. I consider myself open-minded and liberal about most things, & that includes gays, gay rights, etc. I`m straight male. I once made friends with a guy at my job who I suspected was gay. He knew I was straight. & we were friends for a couple months, & 1 time while hanging out he told me he was growing a `crush` on me; & then started rubbing my head. I brushed his hand off & told him that I am not in to that. & we had a small argument & I let him know that the friendship had to end;

And I`ve had this happen before with other gay guys.

Now, I am wary of making friends with someone that`s gay because I fear the same will happen; So I guess I`m `prejudiced` & `bigot` now; Even though it seems too many gays don`t respect the rights and views of straights.

You`ve got to understand, that most straight guys, from what I observed, would never try to be friends with a gay guy just on principle. I was more open-minded than them, & figured gay guy will respect my views and sexual orientation & keep everything on a friendship level; but(!) I was wrong;

Isn`t it disrespectful for a gay person to try & `convert` someone that they know is straight? It`s no different than me trying to make a gay guy try to hook up with women. Hydrophilic: Well, aren`t you the judgmental one. With other gay friends, I`ve told them to stop hitting on me & they only returned to hit on me again; These `urges` that they have don`t simply disappear simply because you told them to stop. Problematic: Nah, he wasn`t joking. Trust me. He was very serious & took me to an area to tell me in private;

Oh for love of God we don`t try to convert people! We aren`t some radical religion or cult! but(!) I agree I am an openly gay guy, & I have had crushes on straight guys before, but(!) I`ve ALWAYS respected their orientation as they respect mine. but(!) it has to be asked if you may have overreacted.

How do you tell them that your not interested in being gay? Do you immediately say that your friendship has to end? If you do then you are to blame here, people get crushes on their friends all time, & simply telling them you aren`t interested is more likely to not hurt their feelings & not make you lose a friend. If you immediately break off any friendship just because someone has crush on you, your doing wrong by those people.

Or if you answered no to that question, & he was coming on to you after you said you weren`t interested, then you did the right thing

Do you think he could have just been joking? Just because he`s gay it doesn`t mean he definitely likes you that way.

Seriously? Ending friendship over something like that is just retarded;

& I do respect the view of straight people. You`re being a hypocrite by saying that. How many straight people respect our views?

Errr girls hit on me all the time, but(!) I don`t go around dumping them for that. I tell them in nice way that I am gay & they stop. You never gave guy second chance & let your machoness get in your way; I guess It`s up to you how you live your life;

If you tell someone to stop in a nice non confrontational manner, they will stop

How did these guys know you were straight? There are many men who are not straight that claim to be straight. But, once you were clear that the advances were unwelcome, he was wrong to still try. I`m going to have to say that some men are pigs. Women deal with the strong come on all the time - it is universal - just talk with any woman & she will have a story to tell you about some creep; but(!) there are also straight women do the same thing to men (straight or gay) that are not attracted to them, & lesbians who become stalkers as well; These people are simply not well - it has nothing to do with being gay or straight - & everything to do with being predator & not caring about someone else`s boundaries & feelings.

As for your conclusion that gays not respecting `views of straights` - what `views` are they? Dont` talk for all `straights` as if there is 1 coherent point of view. If you are talking about anti-gay views that a gay guy doesn`t have the right to at least try, this `straight ally` doesn`t respect your views either. Be flattered by interest - save your criticism for creeps of all sexes, gender identities & sexual orientations
