How do you ask someone if they`re gay without hurting them or creeping them out?

I`ve been wanting to ask my best friend if he`s gay for a long time; I think I like him; I think he likes me too but(!) I`m not sure the way he acts around me I`ve began to wonder. I just don`t want to do something before I find my answer that would ruin my friendship with him.

mensexonly 		Unless you are really close to person you shouldn`t ask. It`s up to that person to decide when & if they want to come out. You can hint around, like asking `Do you think Brad Pitts attractive?` but(!) if he says no it still doesn`t answer your question. You could also observe. We give a lot away that we don`t even realize. I have a friend who I thought might be gay & I confirmed it when I saw him staring at a topless guy washing his car. and man he was staring!

I`ve only ever had 1 person ask me if I was gay, & she is 1 of my closest friends & I think she just got tired of waiting for me to tell her. So I would just say don`t ask

i guess try & ease into it or just try to go on it from different way like try & ask would you ever be with aguy for 1000 dollars or something

i don`t really know this is very hard because if you just say are you gay? it might hurt his feelings

twinklover 		If anyone can figure this 1 out, they`d be a miracle worker. I`ve asked people before, if they were they were all happy & smiley. If they weren`t I usually got yelled at or slapped

twinklover 		You can either bring up the subject of gay or bisexual people & see how he reacts or you could just ask him if he is gay. just do it casually like so I was wondering if you might be gay

twinklover 		Situation: You & him are sitting in a common area like a mall or coffee shop.
You: Hey, that`s a really hot chick, what do you think?
Him: Eh, not so much.
You: What`s wrong with her? She`s not! Girls not doing it for you or something?
Him: [This is part where he either admits he`s gay, evades question or reacts with surprise & reaffirms his heterosexuality. ]
This approach uses gentle teasing (`oh, you don`t like her? when did you turn gay?`) as stimulus, & then his reaction will give you answer you need. If you don`t get it right away, do not press it or else it will be obvious what you`re trying to do

serenity 		Get them drunk & then `accidentally` have sex with them. Or you could be more subtle about it & get them drunk & then ask if they`re gay

mensexonly 		Well, you could ask him how he feels about gay people. I would pick a gay celebrity like Ellen or something & say you saw something funny on her show; Then you say `You know she`s gay, right?; Are you uncomfortable around gay people? I know a couple at school/etc & I`m okay around them` & see what his reaction is like
