Why do we have Gay-Pride parades? They`re embarrassing as hell!?

OK, my city had a gay pride parade yesterday & it makes me ashamed of being gay - I don`t understand what is wrong with other gay people, taxpayers money was sent to this parade so we could all say how great it is being gay - I do NOT want that! I want to be recognised as an ordinary person - regardless of my sexuality.

I feel no need to celebrate being homosexual. It`s not that! - It`s the way they act - it completely demeans gay people, there is no logic in celebrating any kind of sexuality - it`s just the way I am, I`m nor proud or not not proud of being Gay. It`s not something I deliberately draw attention to others to;

bobdilan 		Ashamed of being gay, that your problem buddy; I`m black & Irish, & when I watch BET or other offensive programming towards black people, from black people. I don`t say `I`m ashamed of being black`. I just think `wow, look at this ignorant sh*t`. On St. Patrick Day day when people show Irish pride by getting drunk as hell, I don`t say `I`m ashamed of being Irish`. Mostly because I`m 1 of those people, but(!) I digress. You might not agree with it, but(!) you being ashamed to be gay is not there fault; So don`t rationalize it as such. There just being them, & for a day making all homophobes except it. Oh well, get over yourself. world not about what you want, are you probably be a hetero; You don`t want to have a gay parade, that your choice; Stay the f*ck inside. Ordinary people still have pride about things about them, especially when people wish to oppress it.

Yeah because you never see heteros carrying themselves in an over sexualized manner; Every hetero is graceful as a prancing gazelle. Dumb b*tch. Ever heard of parades such as oktoberfest. You see hetero in everyday life flashing, drinking, screaming, just acting like a jack a** in public. No 1 says look at that `Flaming hetero, kissing that random guy`. Double standards. I`mg glad you hate it. I`m glad I can annoy you by just being myself; It makes me happy

gaynudist 		Then don`t take part in them; I never been to 1 but(!) from the videos I seen, they seem like so much fun. I cannot wait to attend 1 with my gf:D

gaykerk 		hey there`s nothing to be ashamed of; they aren`t forcing you to join parade if you don`t want to. let them do what they want. to me you sound like a straight guy asking `why do we have gay men? they are embarassing as hell! ? it makes me ashamed of being a man`. don`t be ashamed, be proud. if you can`t be proud of yourself atleast be proud of them for they can express themselves & show who they really are regardless of all the insults they could possibly recieve from people

twinklover 		It`s a celebration of being who you are & being happy about it; It`s a big `screw you, we`re happy` to homophobes; It`s way of showing that even though gay people face so much discrimination, they can still enjoy themselves & be happy & proud of who they are;

It`s like people that wear band T-shirts; They wear them because they`re proud of supporting that particular band & want other people to know;

To a lot of people, their sexuality is a huge part of their lives. They have overcome persecution & oppression & want to celebrate fact that they`re still fighting strong. It`s also a way of showing how many LGBT people there are around that area;

Besides, it`s not like you have to attend parade. It`s for people that are proud of their sexuality & that do want to show their pride
