if gay couple were married in california then the law was overturned are they still married leagly?

two lesbian were married in california years ago when it was leagle now they want to know if there still married

charliegay 		Everyone above is correct. They are still legally married.

They are protected by constitution. It states that. (No person shall be punished for an act or omission which was not punishable by law when it was done or made. ) which means that laws can change & make something that was legal yesterday illegal today, but(!) you cannot be punished for it; In essence, you are `grandfathered in. `

Keep in mind that the benefits they may have received as a married couple can be changed, but(!) the marriage itself cannot be revoked
