How can I convince my family that gay people aren`t evil?

I`m not gay, but(!) I support gay rights. My family members are conservative christians who think all gay people are bad. Is there any way I can convince them that gay people are good people too? That gay marriage isn`t wrong? Thanks.

shvd28 		Thats an interesting question and not easy as I'm sure you know. But you can't really convince someone about issues like this one over night and alot goes into their beliefs, the way they were raised and their experiences etc.

All you can do is say what you think and feel and let the chips fall where they may. Its sort of funny but I'm sure there are many gay or bi folks around that many people don't recognize, maybe even some friends you dont know as well as you think. I don't mean you personally but usually you dont know everything about someone. So I would say you dont have to try so hard to convince anyone of anything.

bobdilan 		all you can do is tell them your point of view may be they will understand how you feel about the situation but(!) if they don`t you can`t make them get it. If you have a gay friend that your family aren`t aware of then say something like `so what do you think about ________?` if It`s positive then say `oh well he/she is gay. ` some people are more closed minded than others & if they are like that then don`t fuel fire with pointless shouting or saying things you may later regret your good person for supporting gay rights but(!) those who don`t aren`t bad either they just have different beliefs. Always stick up for what you believe in you seem like the person who does. lots of luck

serenity 		I don`t no. may be have them watch prayers for bobby. my best friend made me have nervous brake down because her who family tried turning my straight. sigh that`s what I get for be friending pastors daughter tho lol. some people just don`t understand

charliegay 		First, thank you for being an ally.
Contact gay center or pflag. org & ask for info relating to gay people & religion, & any other info you think might help. Also, in the journey through your life, if you happen to become friends with gay person, make sure you share your friendship with your family. It`s hard to dislike someone for being gay after you spent the whole day together & enjoyed yourself
