Being gay is disease? may be so. ?

I am as open minded as they come & have had gay friends or acquaintances all my life, I have attended gay weddings, parties, shopped with gays, lived with gays all my life. Now I don’t want to stereotype people, but(!) admit it some stereotypes are true & you know it! NOW, for my question. After 25 years of knowing gay people from all around world, why is it that 95 percent of them possess an essence of extreme promiscuity? I mean sex is always on their minds! Why is this? They always talk about it. Something else I`ve noticed is that they change sexual partners more than anyone; Why? Please don’t take me wrong here I am not trying to bash anyone. I also have to say that most gay people I have met also posses extreme intelligence as well. So is it possible that being gay is disease because most share same symptoms? Some of you seem to be disappointed with my choice to use the word “disease”, I don’t mean to offend anyone, but(!) for an example, 100 kids in my son’s elementary school can’t concentrate, see & spell words backwards & can’t sit still to save their lives. They all share same symptoms & to classify it we put them in the category of having ADHD/ADD.
Disease, Disorder……. whatever;

Im sorry but(!) my straight freinds talk about sex all time too.
Dont forget that you are dealing with double male sexuality.
Men are promiscuous by nature. When it comes to straights the girls hold them back. They play their typical game, & when girl says the OK then they go for it. but(!) I am sure a straight guy wouldnt say no to nice chicks if they asked him for sex all time. With gay people (since you have 2 men who both want the same thing) you don`t go through the same process, they simply get to the point thus more sex; It is not true that all gays are talking about sex all time. I don`t do it, neither my bf does neither my friends; the reason straight guys are not shouting it is because girls don`t like it & because they cannot have sex all time because girls will say no. Gays don`t have to compromise to such rules, because if a gay guy hears another guy making sexual comments, he doesnt get offended like a girl would; but(!) I am sure a straight guy wouldnt mind having girls around making sexual comments & talking about `pillow fights; `

gopbol 		Think about this: guys tend to initiate, ask for, & think about sex more than women do; So if you have bunch of guys together who all want sex, & they are open to having sex with other men, then LOT of sex will occur. It doesn`t have to do with theie being *gay*, it has to do with them being *men*.

Also, the gay culture is very open to discussing sex (compare typical American culture to, say, Japanese culture) & being accepting of sexual expression.

If most gay people share similar traits, it is because they share the same LGBT sub-culture. not `disease`! Do you think all these friends of yours are insane or sick, that you call them diseased? Haven`t you found them to be kind, funny, loving, delightful people? Haven`t you met straight people that are promiscuous & horny, or have you never been on a college campus?

Funny that you think you`re open-minded, yet you believe in & repeat stereotypes; =P

Yes, all of those kids have ADD. & some basketball players exhibit similar characteristics, just as some mountain climbers are alike & some red heads are alike & some Christians are alike. That doesn`t make ANY of them diseased.

Just because you refer to similarities among homo-sexuals by misnomer of `symptoms` doesn`t mean there`s a disease behind any of it. You`re labeling things as effects from a cause that you DON`T know exists. Don`t put the horse before the cart, kiddo

bobdilan 		Well for me I`m with my soul mate, my first, my 1 & only of 14 years; I know we all want long term, forever relationships & may be that`s why they do that. their looking for their soul mate. I got lucky; but for somebody who has as many gay friends as you say you have; have you tried asking them? Have you told them that you feel it to be a disease? Since your not gay you don`t understand. you couldn`t possibly. It`s genetic. there are just alot of artistic, intelligent gays & lesbians

gaykerk 		From what you are claiming, you should know answer to this. However, giving you the benefit of doubt, I would say that gay men are just as obsessed with sex & their genitalia as straight men. I`m sure you don`t just spend your time with gay men, so you can`t tell me that you haven`t been in locker room, a fishing trip, a hunting trip, or sports game. While momentarily distracted, most talk comes right back to getting some. Why would gay men be any different? Just because the object of their desire has same equipment they do, doesn`t change the sexual urgings of men in general;

So if your child had ADD/ADHD It`s ok to ask how his/her disease is progressing? Are you referring to homosexuality as a disease or disorder? For someone who spends as much time as you say you do around gay men, I`m at loss to understand

charliegay 		I think that it might just be the type of friends you attract. Most of my gay friends are not promiscuous; Are your straight friends fairly promiscuous too?

As far as homosexuality being a disease; I guess you would classify being left handed, or blond, or having blue eyes as being disease too. After all, a lower percentage of population is actually blue eyed than is gay. the same goes for being blond & about an equal number of people are left handed as are gay

twinklover 		I suppose if every queer you met was party boy from the gay village area of the city, you might notice high level of promiscuity.

Also, many (NOT all) men tend to be more promiscuous than women, so even if they`re in relationship, there`s more likely to be outside action happening in a 2-guy couple, if they`re ok with it especially. (In some ways, queers don`t hold to hetero values, so monogamy & such aren`t as highly valued, & a queer couple may be more open to `open` relationships; )

In reality, though, eventually even for party boys relationship roundabout slows down or stops.

And frankly, I find a deep level of desire, & significant level of practice, or monogamy among queer womyn. As for your idea that `sex is always on their minds!` - I guess you`ve never heard of `lesbian bed death`; Look it up. Be enlightened. be amazed

serenity 		you might claim to be open-minded & have gay friends, but(!) you`re still generalizing; gays aren`t any more promiscuous than straight people. I`ve met more straight people who were way more promiscuous than gays! & proud of it, too!
and if you are open minded & have so many gay friends, you wouldn`t insult them (or us) by making an ignorant statement like being gay is a disease. it is not!

charliegay 		This kind of question is the kind that many straight `American` people ask. Typically, straight Americans have been conditioned to be secretive about their affairs, especially when they are bonded in a `committed` relationship; but(!) truth of the matter is so cliche, It`s the stuff of movies, books, music & plays.

All people are promiscuous; It`s built into our hardware (male & female) to be constantly interested in sex. Whether or not you want to admit it is something else entirely. Awareness of sex underlies everything humans do. (And It`s by no means confined to humans; )

The gay people you know are perhaps a bit more honest & open about their sexuality, but(!) It`s not in any way more or less condition than what straight people routinely experience. Take trip to Italy, France or Spain if you need more proof of the promiscuity of straight people

I`m not promiscuous nor has my partner been;

Now, if you mean to say, unable to, or lacking interest in long-term, committed relationships; that`s different.

I believe it has a lot to do with socialization`s & stigmas.

The GLBT community has suffered for so long being denied equal access to rights, freedoms & privileges. they`ve suffered misunderstanding, misconceptions & perceptions. we`ve been told over & over that being gay is all about sexual desires or that we`re unable to feel emotional love; that some actually have learned to believe it.

You beat a child long enough & that child believes physical violence is a social norm;
You tell a child repeatedly that they are stupid or worthless & child learns to not strive for anything.

You tell a gay person that they`re sick, mentally ill, unable to form lasting emotional relations or evil, that gay person will eventually believe it; no matter how WRONG those precepts are!

serenity 		I k now number of gay couples who live monogamous together; Female & male couples;

I guess what happens with male gay couples especially when they re young they live their sexuality. Hetero men have it more difficult because they have to convince women who are not always in first place about sex. but(!) between guys they can just do what they want & be honest - on every man`s mind is sex most of the time. Especially when they are younger;

Being gay can`t be disease because the definition for disease includes also that you fell bad & die of the condition if untreated & so no.

However - it is possible that a genetic disposition has to do with how our sexuality develops. & perhaps there are some other genes on the same chromosome; Who knows. It`s really not important

There are as many promiscuous people among hetero-sexual as there are among gay.

charliegay 		being gay/queer is NOT a disease. It is a choice, just like the choice I make every day to get up & go to work. It is immoral and perverted; That is why they are very promiscus. They cannot be satisfied with 1 person, b/c it is immoral & they have to change partners to try & hide the fact that they are gay/queer
