AIDS can slip through some condoms, especially if you use the wrong kind (lambskin, for one). However, it is an effective agent when used in combination with a spermicide;

AIDS can be transmitted between any 2 people - not just gay/lesbian people - if they have unsafe sex. So if you choose to have sex, take the proper precautions.

You also did not mention that babies can contract HIV if their mother has it. but(!) true AIDS/sex education is not really your focus with this question, is it?

yes, you can get any kind of sexually transmitted disease from having sex with ANYONE; That guy could have had sex with guy who had sex with a woman who had it or anything like that; You can get that disease by coming into contact with an infected area

If 1 person is infected, sure. If neither person is infected -- no. Viruses do not occur by spontaneous generation. It isn`t an orientation that causes them, It`s preexisting presence in 1 or the other partner;

Condoms are more effective than most studies funded by religious organizations try to assert, so be careful of who wrote the study you read, & ask a teacher from a PUBLIC school who is a statistician to help you interpret what you are reading.

Peace.

Any time someone has unprotected sex (not using condom) he/she is exposing him/herself to HIV. Someone once told me that when you are having sex with 1 person your are actually having sex with all of other people that person has had sex with. While HIV/AIDS is the scariest, I guess, you can also get herpes (no cure), hepatitis (sick for months) & all of various sexually transmitted diseases that, at the very least, can cause women to be infertile & men to get horrible pains in their lower abdomen

Yes, if 1 person has AIDS & another person is exposed to it (one example: through semen, blood & even body fluids during sex & other activities) than it can be tranmitted

Transmission of AIDS
The 3 main transmission routes of AIDS are sexual contact, exposure to infected body fluids or tissues & from mother to fetus or child during perinatal period. It is possible to find AIDS in the saliva, tears, & urine of infected individuals, but(!) due to low concentration of virus in these biological liquids, the risk is negligible

You can get a STD from anyone effected with a disease or someone who is a carrier. gay sex is especially dangerous because of the lack of monogamy among Gays

You can get AIDS from unprotected sex with anyone, gay or straight, male or female, although the female to male transmission rate is a lot lower then the male to female transmission rate or the male to male transmission rate, just because sperm carries AIDS a lot easier then vaginal secretions do; Right now, the group with highest risk for getting AIDS is black women, not gay men. There are more gay men who have disease, but(!) thanks to new drugs & such, that is because they are living a lot longer. HIV/AIDS used to be a death sentance, & now with treatment it is not. but(!) having sex with anyone without a condom is a very bad idea, & you can get plenty of other diseases besides AIDS.

And as for the tiny holes in condoms thing, that is a myth. Latex condoms, most popular & availible kind (trojen, durex, magnum, etc), do not have tiny holes; Lambskin condoms, which used to be more common for people with latex allergies, have tiny holes that AIDS can pass through, but(!) they are rare & actually quite hard to find; See sources below

You can contract AIDS from having fluid or soft tissue contact with someone who has HIV or HIV. To say that gays have a lack of monogamy & are more at risk is simply ignorant. Some of most fulfilling, stable, monogamous relationships I`ve ever seen have been homosexual ones, & I`ve met *plenty* of non-monogamous straight people

Apparently, the Vatican is saying that condoms don`t stop spread of AIDS. This is not research. This is dogma dressed up as research.

Here`s info refuting Vatican`s claim.

From sexual orientation? No;

From sex? Yes.

But it doesn`t matter if person is gay, straight, or bi. the notion that only gay men get HIV went out in th 80`s, like legwarmers
