Gay travel to Egypt question?

Im 17 & going on a school trip to Egypt; I live in Canada & am openly Gay. If I am discreet, do you think I would be fine, given the societal views towards gay people? I can `play straight` easily, & I wont have any other `friends` with me;

torogay 		Don`t trust pessimistic answers. Stay away from your partner if he`s with you on the trip & nothing will happen to you. You`ll be surprised at how many `discreet` homo-sexuals we have here. :)

EDIT: Please ignore the person who told you not to come. Egypt loves visitors & really he/ she has no right to speak for us.
P; S: Don`t be shocked when you see straight guys kissing on the cheeks/ hugging, it`s the norm here

@Mimi: When they do that they don`t do it for gay reasons. It`s sort of like handshaking. & it`s not really a kiss too, It`s peck.

jimmygay 		I think you will be just fine.
I`m English and lived in Luxor for two years and my best friend of 30 years is gay, he visited many times, he was always discreet and never had any problems. He loves Egypt and many of the people he met love him, including my husband who is Egyptian, they`re great friends (lucky for me).
Egyptians are very homophobic as it`s against their religion, and also illegal, as you can see from some of the replies, but(!) you will be most welcomed if you keep your preferences to you self;
I hope you enjoy your trip, Egypt is wonderful place and the people are open and friendly;


P. S. To all who answered -` don`t come` - `This is a sickness`, while I understand and respect your religious views, I found this to be a very rude answer to politely phrased question, from young man who was thoughtful enough to show respect by asking

bobdilan 		play as you please but(!) always remember that you`re coming from another culture & may be some habits you`re coming with are not accepted in where you are going & if it`s bothering you this much,i think there are gay sites every where & you`ll find what you want & people there will teach you how to deal with it,so it will be double experience for you

jimmygay 		Well not every 1 will know what gay is if you said it in English, but(!) it depend really on where you going, if it tourist`s places then you are in a place where high class Egyptians & tourists so you don`t have to worry more than 90% people there are open minded. & they will understand that you not a resident

gaynudist 		Honestly, I think you`ll be fine. If you don`t tell anyone there that you`re gay (and I recommend that you don`t) no 1 will know that you are;
No 1 will attack you or anything like that, even if you do seem a little `different` just DON`T say anything about being gay & don`t try to pick up any guys or anything. haha
Good luck, I think if you follow my advice you`ll find Egypt is a very friendly place
