are there any new rules about being gay & being in army? need answers; PLEASE?

im gay & my gf is going into army. i kno there is don`t ask don`t tell policy. but I have heard that I will never get to travel with her or anything like that. would someone please update me on gay policy in the army; and plz no negative comments. we are in love

twinklover 		The policy hasn`t changed since 1993; President Obama said he wants DADT overturned so homo-sexuals & bisexuals can serve openly but(!) it still has to clear Congress. Right now the Department of Defense is researching possible effects of lifting ban right now but(!) if you come out before DADT is lifted you will still be discharged

gaynudist 		Don`t ask Don`t tell means if they find out she gets kicked out. a Sgt just got kicked out about a week ago because she got found out. It was in the news. If you travel with her then it`s on your dime, not the military. You can`t live on base with her & you can`t get any benefits either

No there are no new rules about being gay & in the military, however they are going to be studying the effects of allowing gay people to come out in military so government can make decision on the subject.

You will not get to travel with her from base to base because the military wont know you exist, so they just think they`re sending one soldier from 1 base to another; You`ll be following her everywhere she goes (on your dime, not Army`s) if she changes duty stations. If she gets deployed she wont get separation pay, or pay to keep you in a home. It`s a shitty situation for you;

Also, what does a lesbian bring to the second date; UHAUL. Are you sure youre thinking objectively about the situation?

bobdilan 		you will not exist, period. she will be treated as single & must live in the Barracks until she is an E5;

and even after DADT is repealed you will still not exist. only FEDERALLY recognized marriages are accepted in military. so if you want to follwo her to each duty station it will all be out of pcoket & there may bne times where she cannot live with you off base. & you are not authorized to live on base;
