Which City In Asia has the best gay scene?

My hetero-sexual friend wants to go to Asia & mack on some chicks. but(!) I am gay & I want to go to a city that has a fun gay scene (think Sao Paulo Brazil). My friend is suggesting Manila, Bangkok, & Tokyo. My online research makes Tokyo & Manila seem kind of lame. Bangkok sounds more fun but(!) still not that great (I am not into money boys & paying for sex).

So the question is what is the best gay city in Asia?
