Gay population are more noticed in Europe & Americas than in Middle East & rest of Asia?

Gay population are more noticed in Europe & Americas than in Middle East & rest of Asia?
I think there are more gay population. in Europe, Americas & Australia & NZ than in Africa & Middle east & Asia. I would like to know why is that? there are more gays from white race, latinos than blacks & arabs, asians etc. why is that? or Am I wrong?

charliegay 		There is no difference in the numbers of gays in 1 country vs; another. It`s just swept under the rug in Middle Ease & parts of Asia because of cultural feelings about homosexuality

jimmygay 		Its religion; In the middle east if your gay It`s better for that person to hide himself he will be considered an outcast, because in this region no choice is allowed, because Islam forbids sodomy. which it works good in this region

gaynudist 		I don`t think they are more noticed, or more of them, but(!) they are more able to be openly gay in the areas you name, so you see more gay people & behavior. There are probably not fewer gays in Middle East & Asia, but(!) they are hidden

serenity 		`Gay` is defined differently in different cultures; In many Asian & African cultures, for instance, a man having sex with a man doesn`t count as `gay` unless the man is `receiving` partner; & in Europe & Americas there is a `gay` culture, whereas that is not really the case to the same degree in Asia or Africa. That doesn`t mean there are fewer people who experience same-sex desire, however; it just means that they are not as visible
