Is Australia Accepted of gay People?

I want to try to get my wife to think about moving to Australia with me & she brought up a very good question;

Also what about hispanics & blacks - are they present?

bobdilan 		That first answer from another person is really awful & condescending & I have a mind to report them.
Actually, I have spent alot of time in Australia & you might be happy to hear that gays (and lesbians?) in my opinion are MORE widely accepted than in US; Aussies don`t seem to have severe religiosity & fundamentalist attitude that Americans do; don`t forget that there is a whole race of black Aborigines. Every country has it`s past to be ashamed of. the white Aussie`s treated their Indigenous people`s wrongly, but(!) now hopefully they are trying to make amends for it. but(!) if you are American, you are not an Aborigine. Just remember wherever you go in the World, you are an American & you will have to answer for the mistakes in Iraq, & all the other bad decisions of the US. There is no getting away from it.

The men of OZ in my opinion seem less homophobic. At least that`s my opinion. You may also want to note that they recognize defacto marriage. That is that if 2 people are living together for (I believe ) 1 year or more, then it`s considered legal union. I`m not sure if that applies to same sex; I`d look it up on their website, but(!) I wouldn`t be surprised to find out that they have legalized same sex unions. It`s really an open country. You`ll find a LOT less hypocrites. Email me if you need more info

gaykerk 		Gay people are accepted here, never heard of any problems with them.

Not many hispanics here & I think they`d blend into the general tanned population.

More & more blacks here (mostly African refugees) but(!) still a minority.

gaykerk 		I reckon we`re pretty tolerant!

I think gay marriage is legal in 1 or 2 states;

We DO have the gay & lesbian mardi gras so we can`t be TOO unaccepting!

There aren`t that many hispanics & African Americans. but(!) there are nigerians, aboriginals, asians, tongans, kiwi`s & quite a few Muslims too!

It really depends on where you go in Oz
