gay people in Europe. ?

how do people in Europe treat Gays. In America lot of people accept gays but(!) a lot hate them. I was just wondering how Europe was doing on gay rights & and about of gay people that are out & proud in Europe.

gaymentop 		It depends on the country; country i`m from is starting to accept gays, but(!) some years ago, there wasn`t any law that helped gay people, like if they were attacked;
But I know that in Denmark, they`re going to make a law that makes it possible for gay people to adopt children.

jimmygay 		I live in England; & we`re ok here. We can`t get married, but(!) we can have civil unions. Anyway except for the occasional comment or look, England is a pretty gay friendly place

twinklover 		I live in Wales & I`ve never had any problems of homophobic nature *fingers crossed*. People are pretty laid back here

serenity 		Europeans are far more tolerant than we are in the United States. Also, they have none of the hangups we do about nudity & the like.

Sure, every place has haters, but(!) Europeans are much more accepting

gaymentop 		something like this: Western & northern europe are cool with gayness, even southern europe. but(!) eastern europe, my looooooovely homeland, is crap about gayness.

well, the old generation is homophobic & of course there`s no shortage of ignorant homophobic ppl among the younger population either!

. besides my catholic community. we`re fine

. you can`t discriminate against the gay here. you can end up with some costly charged

twinklover 		As in US it`s a mixture, but(!) nowadays most Europeans don`t have same religious extreme beliefs as a lot of Americans, so are more relaxed about homosexuality

gopbol 		Depends on the country you`re talking about.

The Netherlands was the first country to legalise gay marriage (not union, but(!) actual marriage); Belgium & Spain soon followed suit. In Ireland (where I live), homo-sexuals are accepted, but(!) the marriage debate is still a hot topic; also, older generation Irish tend to be prudes & either don`t discuss homosexuality or look down their noses on gays (in fact, homosexuality was a criminal offence here until 1992)
